Hangul

Hangul or Kashmir stag (Cervus canadensis hanglu) is a subspecies of elk. It is native to Kashmir Valley. It is also found in the northern Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. This endangered species’ population has witnessed a sharp decline over the past years. To address this issue, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha directed the forest department to increase the hangul population at the Dachigam National Park.
