Broadcast Seva Portal

Anurag Thakur, the Information and Broadcasting Minister has launched the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s Broadcast Seva Portal. This portal was launched on 4th April 2022 in New Delhi.

Overview:

  • The country’s media and entertainment sectors are rapidly growing.
  • In the next two years, it will reach the USD 30 billion mark, and currently it is at USD 25 billion.
  • The country has over 1762 multi-service operators, more than 900 satellite TV channels, over 380 FM channels, and 350 community radio stations.
  • The Broadcast Seva Portal falls in line with the Make in India, Ease of Doing Business, and Digital India initiatives.

The objective of this portal

This portal will be providing a single-point facility to the various applicants and stakeholders who will be applying for various permissions, registrations, and licences that are issued by the I&B Ministry for all broadcast related activities. This portal will establish a transparent and efficient system for the management and growth of the country’s Broadcast sector. This portal will also be enabling communications in a smooth manner between the different stakeholders and applicants and will be speeding up the processing of the applications.

Services that will be provided

A database of various institutions like news agencies, TV channels, OTT, TRP agencies, local cable operators, Digital Media, FM channels, DTH Operators, Multi-System Operators, community radio stations, Satellite TV Channels, user information systems and HITS Operators will be available on this portal. Through this portal payment of annual permission fees for Teleports or TV Channels can also be done. The portal will also help in the setting up of Community Radio Stations. It will also help in the process guidelines for registration as Multi-System Operators and will provide guidelines for the Temporary uplink of various live events.
