Block Level Health Melas
From 18th April 2022, block level health melas are being held by the Union Health Ministry at more than one lakh Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres across India.
Overview:
- The health melas are being organized in association with all Union Territories, states, and various key ministries such as the Information and Broadcasting, Women and Child Development, Education, Panchayati Raj, and Ayush ministries.
- This Block Level Health Melas is a part of the week-long celebrations that fall under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav of the government to create awareness regarding Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres and teleconsultations and telemedicine.
Aim of the health melas
The events have been organized with the aim of providing quality health care services along with essential medicines all free of cost. It has been found that there is a lack of awareness regarding major underlying diseases. Through the health melas the people of the country will also be informed about the various health programs that are being carried out by the State Governments, the Central Government, NGOs, etc. The key services that will be provided at the health melas include family planning, reproductive child health that is related to child and maternal health, family welfare, sexually transmitted diseases, reproductive transmitted illnesses, screening of AIDS screening and other treatments, etc.
