Bansi Paharpur sandstone

Bansi paharpur sandstone is a unique type of sandstone (a type of sedimentary rock) that is noted for its pink color. It is sourced from Rajasthan and is now being used for the Ayodhya Ram Temple construction. Though the mining of the sandstone was banned in 2016, it was available via grey market as illegal mining continued. Recently the Rajasthan wildlife board cleared a proposal to free up land for its mining.
