A Night with Buddha

A Night with Buddha is an event held in Afghanistan in memory of it’s pre-Islamic culture. This event is observed in the 1st week of March to mark the destruction of the Bamiyan Buddhas, once the tallest in the world, in 2001 by the Talibans. This event is being observed since 2013. During this event, Afghans carry lanterns to the Bamiyan Valley and spend the night there. Recently, the 20th anniversary of the destruction of the Bamiyan statues was marked by the event.
