TDB Supports AI Cervical Cancer Screening Technology

The Technology Development Board (TDB) of the Department of Science & Technology (DST) signed an agreement on 10 August 2026 with Visakhapatnam-based M/s Griva Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. for the commercialisation of GrivaVision. GrivaVision is an indigenous, AI-powered cervical cancer screening device developed as a portable digital colposcope for clinical use.

GrivaVision Device Features

GrivaVision integrates proprietary Indian-patented hardware, advanced optics, a high-definition camera, and a built-in display. The device uses AI-assisted software to help gynaecologists identify pre-cancerous abnormalities in cervical lesions during routine check-ups.

Medical Standards and Regulatory Classification

GrivaVision is classified as a Class B non-invasive medical device. It has been developed under ISO 13485 quality standards and holds a manufacturing licence from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO).

Manufacturing and Digital Health Integration

Under the agreement, Griva Healthcare will move from its research and development operations at AIC-AMTZ Medivalley, Visakhapatnam, to a commercial-scale manufacturing plant in Kollam, Kerala. The software is compliant with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), and the screening system aligns with WHO-approved Automated Visual Evaluation (AVE) standards.
