Operation Sankat Mochan
The Indian Government has started the operation “Sankat Mochan” to evacuate Indian nationals from war-torn African country South Sudan. The operation is being headed by Minister of State for External Affairs General (Retd.) Vijay Kumar Singh. Two C-17 military transport aircrafts have been pressed in service to make the evacuation. There are around 600 Indians in South Sudan, of them 450 are in Juba (capital city of South Sudan) and nearly 150 are outside Juba.
