Abraham Verghese
Abraham Verghese, Indian-American physician-author, has been selected for the prestigious 2015 National Humanities Medal. The award will be conferred to him at a ceremony in Washington by President Barack Obama on September 21, 2016. The award honours individuals or groups whose work has deepened the nation’s understanding of the human experience, broadened citizens’ engagement with history, literature, languages, philosophy, and other humanities subjects.
