Perumal Murugan
The book “Mathorubhagan ( or One Part Woman )” has been authored by tamil writer Perumal Murugan. The novel’s focus is on recording the travails of a childless couple subjected to community ridicule. Recently, the novel is in news because the Madras High Court has invalidated the settlement, dismissed the criminal complaints and dismissed the petition seeking a ban on the book. The issue was that some Hindu groups took offence to this book and alleged that the author portrayed the Kailasanathar temple in Tiruchengode and its women devotees in bad light. They demanded that the book should be ban.
