Recently, the Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has inaugurated the cable stayed-bridge on river Ravi at Basholi area of Kathua district of Jammu province. The 592-metre-long Basholi bridge is first of its kind in North India. It will provide close connectivity between the three states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. The other three cable-stayed bridges are of India are Hooghly Bridge at Kolkata, Naini Bridge in Allahabad and Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link in Mumbai.
