The Wangala harvest festival is an annual post-harvest festival of the Garo tribe of Meghalaya i.e. started in November 2016. The festival marks the end of the agricultural year. It is an act of thanksgiving to the sun god of fertility “Misi-A-Gilpa-Saljong-Galapa”. During the festival, men play the drums and women perform the Wangala Dance. The festival is also known as “100 Drum Festival”, which mainly includes tribal groups offering sacrifices to please their main deity Saljong – the Sun God.
