Dasaradhi Rangacharya was a well known poet and writer in Telugu. H is also called as a freedom fighter. He is an active member of the Telanagana Movement against the autocratic rule of the Nizams. He went underground and took part in the Telangana Armed Struggle till Hyderabad was liberated. In 1969, his pen attracted the spotlight with ‘Chillara Devullu’ (The Lesser Deities). He followed it up, writing ‘Modugu Poolu’ (Fire Flowers) in 1971, a chronicle of the history of Telangana. Chillara Devullu brought him Central Sahitya Akademi award. Jeevanayanam was his autobiography.
