Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE)

Scientists from the CeNSE at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru are working on development of next-generation integrated circuits. Processors consist of millions of transistors connected with copper lines. These copper wires create a bottleneck for data transfer. To overcome this, scientists are working on replacing copper lines with high-speed Silicon photonics to improve the data transfer between the core and the memory exponentially. Scientists at CeNSE are also working on development of indigenous technology for high-speed optical interconnect technology.
