What is hard water? What are it effects

The water that does not form a lather easily with soap, due to the presence of calcium, magnesium and iron compounds is known as hard water. It may be temporarily containing hard soluble bicarbonates; permanently containing hard sulphates.

Hard drinking water may have moderate health benefits, but can pose serious problems in industrial settings, where water hardness is monitored to avoid costly breakdowns in boilers, cooling towers, and other equipment that handles water
