What is Catch crop?Why it is cultivated

In Agriculture, A Catch crop is a crop that is sown to utilize land that would otherwise lie fallow; It may be grown between the period of one main crop and the next. It generally grows and matures quickly. Catch crops are also crops that are sown to prevent minerals being flushed away from the soil.

Catch cropping is a type of succession planting which makes more efficient use of growing space.
