Union Cabinet gives for formation of Indian Skill Development Service

The Union Cabinet has given its nod for formation of Indian Skill Development Service (ISDS).
ISDS will be a Group A Service of the technical cadre of the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSD&E).
Earlier ISDS was called as the Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGET) which functioned under the aegis of Union Ministry of Labour Employment. This decision will help to enhance the capacity and efficiency of the organisation.
The new cadre will also encourage the officers to push the mandate of job creation which has been one of the key thrust areas of Union Government.
Union Cabinet also approved introduction of Non-functional Selection Grade (NFSG). It will be to the extent of 15 per cent of SDPs at the STS (Senior time Scale) level as applicable in Group ‘A’ Engineering Service.
