Tourism Ministry organising 8th International Tourism Mart 2019

The 8th edition of ‘International Tourism Mart’ is being organized at Imphal, the capital city of Manipur from 23 to 25 November 2019. This annual event is organised in North Eastern region by Union Ministry of Tourism in association with North Eastern States.

The theme for 8th International Tourism Mart is: ‘Sustainable Tourism an engine for Economic Growth and Employment’. Manipur is hosting this mart for the second time. Earlier editions of this mart were held in Guwahati, Tawang, Shillong, Gangtok, Agartala.

Key Highlights

The event will bring together the tourism business fraternity and entrepreneurs from the eight North Eastern States. It will also facilitate interaction between buyers, sellers, media, Government agencies and other stakeholders.

Besides deliberations on promotion of tourism in North East Region in general, the Mart will also give a platform for promoting cultural ties, providing enhanced connectivity to States of North Eastern Region with other countries in neighbourhood.

Participants: A total of 36 foreign buyer delegates from more than 19 countries namely- USA, Dubai, Oman, Australia, Canada, Cambodia, Czech, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Myanmar, Spain, Thailand, UK, Vietnam, Singapore are participating in the Mart. Other participants besides foreign delegates include 49 domestic stakeholders in tourism sector from other parts of the country and 109 sellers from North Eastern States.

The State Government of Madhya Pradesh has also been invited to participate and give a presentation as it is paired State with Manipur under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative.

About International Tourism Mart

It is annual event organized in north-eastern region of India with the objective of highlighting tourism potential of region in domestic as well as international markets. It is organized annually in North Eastern States on rotation basis, thus providing platform to tourism business fraternity and entrepreneurs from 8 North Eastern States.

North East Region of India: It comprises of the States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim. These are endowed with diverse tourist attractions and products. The varied topography of region, its flora and fauna as well as the ethnic communities along with their rich heritage of ancient traditions and lifestyles, festivals, arts and crafts thus makes it a holiday destination waiting to be explored.
