Statutory warning to be on both sides of Cigarrettes packs

The Union Health Ministry has issued a gazette notification amending the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Packaging and Labelling) Rules, 2008 to change the specifications of the statutory warning that cigarette packs carry.
Scenario prior to notification
Prior to this notification, cigarette packs only has to issue statutory warning covering either 40% of pack on one side or 20% of the pack on both sides. However, this is not sufficient by global standards and are ineffective according to reports.
