Odisha wins World Habitat Award for Jaga Mission
The Odisha Livable Habitat Mission (OLHM) also known as the Jaga Mission is a slum land titling project for the millions of urban-poor people living in the slums by the Odisha Government. The Odisha Government was awarded the prestigious ‘World Habitat Award’ for its Jaga Mission by the World Habitat, a United Kingdom-based international charity.
Under the Jaga Mission scheme, thousands of acres of land have been secured to date for the tribal communities, and over 19000 people have accessed grants to build homes.
The scheme has acted as a foundation for the people living in the urban slums to rebuild their lives. The scheme will improve the overall standard of infrastructure and services in the state of Odisha also in the country and will also provide livelihood opportunities to the people. The Jaga Mission scheme was launched on 15th November 2018 by the Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik.
