New Life Sciences prize announced by World’s Technology tychoons

Few of the world’s best-known technology tycoons, including Google co-founder Sergey Brin and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, established a $15-million annual prize to reward pioneering achievements in life sciences.

Objective: To generate fervor and financial reward for spectacular scientific accomplishment.

In its first year, prizes of $3 million each were awarded to 11 scientists in the field of cancer and genetic research.
