Kerala: Study on Kudumbashree released

Titled “Engendering Power Spaces for Deepening Democracy: Study of Kudumbashree in three Panchayats in Kerala”, the study on Kudumbashree, the model poverty alleviation programme of Kerala, conducted by the Mumbai-based Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS).

The study was conducted giving focus on women collectives formed through Neighbourhood groups(NHGs) at the neighbourhood level, Area Development Society (ADS) at the ward level and Community Development Society(CDS) at the Panchayat level.

The study revealed that: Poverty is not deprivation of money but is the deprivation of basic human rights and denial of spaces to exercise one s agency and subjectivity.
