John Kerry nominated as next secretary of state for USA
US President Barack Obama nominated John Kerry to replace Hillary Clinton as secretary of state.
Kerry, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the 2004 Democratic presidential candidate, was nominated after UN ambassador Susan Rice, withdrew her name from considerations.
