India to continue infrastructure upgrade in the border

On July 7, 2020, the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the border infrastructure development. After his review, the defence ministry announced that India is to boost the infrastructure along its border.

India and China announced a preliminary headway two days back after their stand- off in Ladakh. The stand off was mainly due to Beijing’s opposition to India building a road in Pangong Tso lake in Ladakh. Also, China opposed another road infrastructure project of India in Darbuk-Shyok-Daulet towards Line of Actual control.

Defence Minister during the meet reviewed other projects in Ladakh as well. Also, the projects along the border in Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh were also reviewed.

India has announced that it will continue to develop this project.

The stand-off that occurred between the countries is considered to be the bloodiest in 45 years. It killed 20 Indian soldiers and the Chinese have not disclosed their casualties.
