Chhattisgarh launches Godhan Nyay Yojana

The Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel recently launched “Godhan Nyay Yojana”. The scheme is to make animal husbandry commercially profitable.

Highlights

The Godhan Nyay Yojana is the first of its kind that will procure cow dung from cattle owners. The scheme will also prevent open grazing of cattle and will solve the problem of stray animals on road.

The scheme was launched through an online press conference.

Features

A five-member sub-committee has been constituted to determine procurement rate of cowdung.

The procured cowdung under the scheme is to be used in the production of vermicompost. They will then be sold to cooperative societies to meet the fertilizer requirement of the farmers

Significance

The scheme will help to protect the financial interests of the farmers and livestock owners. It will boost the efforts that are made by the state government to strengthen the rural economy.

The scheme is to be implemented in the state of Chhattisgarh on the day of Hareli festival of the state
