Notes: Satyendranath Tagore was the first Indian to enter the Indian Civil Service (ICS) through the competitive exams in London. He was involved in founding the Hindu Mela at Belgachia, Calcutta, in 1876 and wrote patriotic songs for it. He was active in the Adi Brahmo Samaj and became its president and acharya in 1907, along with his elder brother Dwijendranath Tagore.
