Notes: Krishna Raja Sagara, also popularly known as KRS, is a gravity dam made of surki mortar located in the Mandya district, Karnataka. This dam is built below the confluence of river Kaveri with its tributaries Hemavati and Lakshmana Tirtha. The Maharaja of Mysore, Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV, constructed the dam during famine despite the financial condition of the State being critical. One of the architects of the dam was Chief Engineer of Mysore M. Visvesvaraya, who later became the 19th Diwan of Mysore. Brindavan Gardens lies adjoining this dam.
