Burhan Nizam Shah III
Lakhuji Jadhav Rao was a notable Maratha statesman and the jagirdar of Sindkhed Raja in Maharashtra. He served both the Ahmadnagar Sultanate and later the Mughal Empire, playing a crucial role in Deccan politics. In 1629, he and his close kin were assassinated at Devgiri Fort on the orders of Burhan Nizam Shah III, ruler of the Ahmadnagar Sultanate. This incident significantly influenced the struggle for power in the Deccan and the early rise of the Maratha leadership under his descendants.
