Self-rule or Indian sovereignty
"Hindavi Swarajya" means self-rule or Indian sovereignty, first associated with Shivaji in 1645. It symbolized independence from Mughal or foreign control. The term later inspired Indian freedom fighters like Bal Gangadhar Tilak. "Hindavi" referred broadly to natives, not only Hindus, at the time.
