India will host the third edition of Asia Ministerial Conference 2016 on Tiger Conservation from April 12, 2016 to save tigers. The purpose of this conference is to promote awareness about tiger conservation across Asia and the world. There will be 13 participating countries including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Russia, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The fifth edition of IBSAMAR 2016 trilateral naval exercise between Brazil, India and South Africa has started at Indian west coast with the harbour phase being conducted in Goa. IBSAMAR is abbreviated as India-Brazil-South Africa Maritime. The purpose of the military exercise is to increase the interoperability among three navies as well as common understanding maritime security between the navies.

Rajendra Singh has been appointed as the Director General (DG) of Indian Coast Guard (ICG), country’s coastal protection force. This is the first time an officer who is not from the Indian Navy has been elevated to the position. So far, this top post was only held by officers who were commissioned in the Indian Navy. Mr. Singh will replace Vice Admiral HCS Bisht who has been promoted as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command. .
