Italian documentary film Fuocoammare ( Fire at Sea) has won the Golden Bear, the top award at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival 2016 held in Berlin, Germany. The film is a harrowing documentary about Europe’s refugee crisis and is directed by Gianfranco Rosi.

India’s first ever Gender Park has been inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee at Kozhikode, Kerala. The park is set up to promote research and other initiatives to enable total gender equality. The Gender Institute at the park would focus on learning, research and capacity development, as part of supporting the efforts of the State and Central governments in ensuring an inclusive, discrimination free society.

The report titled ‘Trends in international arms transfers-2015’ has been released by the Sweden-based think tank Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). The assessment was done for a five-year period (2011- 2015). In the list of world’s biggest arms importer, India followed by Saudi Arabia, China, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Australia. The five biggest exporters in five year block period 2011-2015 are the United States followed by Russia, China, France and Germany.

The film is about the impact of power shortage crisis in the villages of Tamil Nadu. The WorldFest is the oldest Independent Film & Video Festival in the World and Remi award is given to independent films and filmmakers.

The venture has been funded by the Chinese government as an act of friendship, with the solar power plant costing around $ 55 million. The Parliament is located in national capital Islamabad.
10. Which city has topped the list in the Mercer’s Quality of Living Ranking 2016?
According to Mercer’s18th annual Quality of Living survey, Vienna has topped the list followed by Zurich, Auckland and Munich. Singapore (26) is the highest ranking Asian city. In India, Hyderabad (139) is the best Indian city in terms of quality of living, followed by Pune (144), Mumbai (152) and New Delhi (161) . Baghdad (230) and Damascus (229) are the world’s least safe cities. The study stated that despite recent security issues, social unrest, and concern about the region’s economic outlook, European cities continue to offer some of the worlds’ highest quality-of-living. .
