CtrlS Announces AI Factory and Opens Patna Data Centre
CtrlS Datacenters inaugurated a ₹400-crore data centre in Patna, Bihar, on 13 October 2026, and announced a proposed ₹10,000-crore, 150 MW hyperscale AI factory in Bodh Gaya. The company signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the Bodh Gaya project with the Government of Bihar.
Data Centre Infrastructure
A data centre is a facility that houses computing servers, storage systems and networking equipment. Its IT load capacity measures the power available to information technology equipment, rather than the total power consumed by the entire facility. The Patna facility, located in the Patliputra Industrial Area, currently has an IT load capacity of 12 MW, with scope for expansion.
The Patna data centre is designed to serve enterprises, government institutions, hyperscalers and technology businesses in Bihar and eastern India. It is described as AI- and cloud-ready, with disaster-resilient design, military-grade security and energy-efficient operations. Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated the facility and attended the announcement of the Bodh Gaya project.
Hyperscale Computing and AI Infrastructure
Hyperscale data centres provide large-scale computing and storage infrastructure that can expand to meet demand. The planned Bodh Gaya AI factory is proposed to have 150 MW of capacity, with an investment of ₹10,000 crore, approximately US$1 billion. The LOI records the proposed investment arrangement with the state government; it is not, by itself, a completed facility.
Artificial intelligence workloads use computing resources to train and run models, including specialised processors and high-capacity data storage. The Patna facility is intended to serve hyperscalers and other digital infrastructure users, while the Bodh Gaya project is planned specifically as an AI facility.
Data Centre Expansion and Edge Computing
CtrlS began operations in 2007 and operates 19 data centres across nine markets in India. It aims to build more than 4.4 GW of data centre capacity by 2030 and plans to establish over 20 edge data centres in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Edge computing places processing and storage closer to users or devices, which can reduce the distance data must travel and support low-latency services.
