NSE Lists on BSE, Marking Major Milestone for India’s Capital Markets

The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on 24 September 2026. The shares opened at ₹1,800 apiece against an issue price of ₹1,785 per share, and the listing valued the exchange at over ₹4.45 lakh crore.

NSE Listing Structure

The public issue was an Offer for Sale of 12.64 crore equity shares by existing shareholders. In an Offer for Sale, the issuing company does not receive the proceeds, and the money goes to the selling shareholders.

IPO Subscription Details

The IPO closed for subscription on 21 September 2026 and was valued at ₹22,562 crore. The issue was subscribed 5.71 times overall, with Qualified Institutional Buyers subscribing 12.68 times, Non-Institutional Investors 6.55 times, and retail investors 1.39 times.

Regulatory Framework for Exchange Listings

The Securities Contracts (Regulation) (Stock Exchanges and Clearing Corporation) Regulations, 2019, govern stock exchange and clearing corporation structures in India. These regulations prevent an exchange from listing its own shares to avoid conflicts of interest, which is why NSE listed on BSE.
