MoSPI Signs MoU with Thapar Institute for Statistical Cooperation
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology in Patiala, Punjab, on 31 August 2026. The agreement covers a joint research study on a Predictive and Analytical Framework for Monthly Consumption Expenditures in India.
MoSPI and statistical data systems
MoSPI is the nodal ministry for official statistics and programme implementation in India. It works with national statistical systems that cover surveys, price data, national accounts, and socio-economic indicators.
Household Consumption Expenditure Survey and MPCE
The collaboration uses Household Consumption Expenditure Survey data to estimate Monthly Per Capita Consumption Expenditure at the national and state levels. MPCE is a standard statistical measure used in household consumption analysis and poverty-related studies in India.
