Notes:
The Central Government announced an additional fertiliser subsidy of ₹ 1.10 lakh crore, amidst the rising prices of fertiliser.
This has been announced in addition to the fertiliser subsidy of ₹ 1.05 lakh crore in the budget. With this, the Government’s total fertiliser subsidy is set to touch a record ₹ 2.15 lakh crore in 2022-23. The fertiliser subsidy stood at ₹ 1.62 lakh crore in 2021-22.

ONGC has become the first exploration and production (E&P) company in India to trade domestic gas on the Indian Gas Exchange (IGX).
The first online trade was made recently by ONGC on India’s first automated national level Gas Exchange, IGX. The gas traded is from ONGC Krishna Godavari block.

The World Economic Forum’s latest study released the travel and tourism development index, which assessed as many as 117 countries.
India was placed at the 54th spot in the overall rankings, down from 46th in 2019. As per the study, after two years of slowdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, India’s travel and tourism sector has shown signs of recovery and is the top performer in South Asia.

The project ‘Intelligent Solutions for Road Safety through Technology and Engineering’ (iRASTE) has been launched at Nagpur.
It will identify potential accident-causing scenarios while driving a vehicle and alert drivers with the help of the Advance Driver Assistance System (ADAS). The project is undertaken by the I-Hub Foundation, IIIT Hyderabad, a Technology Innovation Hub (TIH). LaneRoadNet (LRNet), a framework with lane and road parameters has been designed to address problems of Indian roads, using deep learning.

Union Minister for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Giriraj Singh inaugurated the 3-day International Conference on New Technologies and Innovations in Rural Roads.
During the Inaugural Session, documents including the New Technology Vision, 2022 were released. Under the Vision document, the Ministry of Rural Development seeks at least half of rural roads length to be constructed using New Technologies and Alternative Materials.

According to NAS-2021, at least 48 percent of students across the country walk to school, while nine percent of them use school transportation. According to the survey, at least 25 percent of schools face a lack of parental support in students’ learning.

The Prime Minister recently laid the foundation stone of a multi-modal logistics park in Chennai with an estimated cost of Rs 1430 crore. The park is being designed to offer seamless intermodal freight movement apart from other unique multifunctionalities. PM Modi was recently in Chennai to lay the foundation stone for 11 projects worth Rs 31,530 crore.

The iconic rifle and soldier’s war helmet, which were part of the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate, were taken to the National War Memorial on May 27, 2022. It was a symbol of the soldiers who died in the 1971 war, up to the param warrior site at the National War Memorial. The Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate was merged with the eternal flame at the National War Memorial (NWM) in January 2022. NWM is about 400 meters from India Gate. The Amar Jawan Jyoti was built as a memorial to the Indian soldiers who died in action in the Indo-Pak war of 1971, which India won, and thus led to the creation of Bangladesh. It was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on 26 January 1972.

Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on International Solar Alliance (ISA) with the Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto in New Delhi.
In the bilateral meeting, the Ministers discussed global affairs on the sidelines of the India-Hungary Business Forum. The ISA is a multilateral organisation which aims for increased deployment of solar energy technologies around the world.

Notes:
As per Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) banknote survey, Rs 100 denomination banknotes are preferred the most by the people of India, while Rs 2,000 are least preferred. The survey has been conducted to assess demand for cash and denomination preferences at the consumer level.
At least 7 out of 10 respondents were satisfied with the new series of banknotes. Around 3 per cent of the respondents were not aware of any banknote security feature.
