Recently Anurag Thakur, the Lok Sabha MP from Himachal Pradesh visited Allard Square in the French coastal town Saint-Tropez, during his visit to Cannes Film Festival. He paid floral tributes to Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Jean-Francois Allard- a general in Singh’s army and Allard’s spouse Princess Bannu Pan Dei- who was from Himachal Pradesh.

eVTOL stands for ‘Electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL)’. The eVTOL aircrafts use electric power to hover, take off, and land vertically.
Union Minister for Civil Aviation, while speaking at India @ 2047, a part of the 7th edition of India Ideas Conclave announced that India would rope in eVTOL manufacturing bases in the country after U.S. Airforce and the Canadian Airforce get regulatory certifications.

South Indian singer Sangeeta Sajith was a famous playback singer in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages. She has contributed more than 200 songs for the South Indian film industry. She was suffering from kidney related ailments for a long time. She died in Thiruvananthapuram.

The government had planned to sell its entire 52.98 per cent stake in Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and had invited Expression of Interest (EoI) from bidders in March 2020.

A state-of-the-art supercomputer Param Porul was inaugurated at NIT Tiruchirappalli on 25 May 2022 in a joint initiative by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). This newly inaugurated supercomputing facility has been set up under Phase 2 of the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM).

Officials from the Group of Seven Wealthy Countries (G7) announced on May 27, 2022 that they would aim to largely eliminate greenhouse gas emissions from their power sectors by 2035. Ministers from the G-7 meeting in Berlin also announced a target for a highly carbon-free road sector by 2030, meaning zero-emissions vehicles will dominate sales by the end of the decade.

World Thyroid Day is observed every year on 25 May. It aims to promote understanding related to thyroid disease, its symptoms and treatment. World Thyroid Day was first observed in the year 2008 by resolution of the European Thyroid Association (ETA).

Tirupati-based writer K.V. Raghupati has been selected for the International Panorama Golden Award by White Falcon Publishing for his book, The Mountain is Calling, published in 2019. Raghupati, an English professor who retired from the Central University of Tamil Nadu, Tiruvarur, has been writing since the 1980s.
