The Seventy-fifth World Health Assembly is being held in Geneva, Switzerland, from 22-28 May 2022. I
This is the first in-person Health Assembly since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The theme of this year’s Health Assembly is: Health for peace, peace for health. The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of WHO and it is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States.

The International Boxing Association (IBA) 2022 Women’s World Boxing Championship was held in Istanbul, Turkey.
Indian contingent finished the tournament with a total of three medals (one gold and two bronze). Telangana-based boxer Nikhat Zareen won gold in 52-kg category, Manisha (57kg) and Parveen (63kg) won bronze. Busenaz Sürmeneli, the Olympic and world champion was named best boxer.

The founder and chief executive officer of financial technology company Paytm, has been reappointed as managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) of One 97 Communications, which operates under Paytm brand.
Infosys has re-appointed Salil Parekh as the Managing director and CEO of the company for five years. Since 2018, Parekh has been leading Infosys, the country’s second- largest IT services firm.

Kolkata recently became the first major metropolitan city in India to prepare a detailed register of biodiversity.
The People’s Biodiversity Register (PBR) includes 399 plant and 283 animal species. The Forest Survey of India’s recent report flagged the West Bengal Capital for the least green cover among all metro cities. Chandigarh and Indore have also prepared a similar document.

eVTOL stands for ‘Electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL)’. The eVTOL aircrafts use electric power to hover, take off, and land vertically.
Union Minister for Civil Aviation, while speaking at India @ 2047, a part of the 7th edition of India Ideas Conclave announced that India would rope in eVTOL manufacturing bases in the country after U.S. Airforce and the Canadian Airforce get regulatory certifications.

The government had planned to sell its entire 52.98 per cent stake in Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and had invited Expression of Interest (EoI) from bidders in March 2020.

The two-day event of India Drone Festival 2022 is being organized in New Delhi on May 27 and 28. More than 1600 delegates including government officials, foreign diplomats, armed forces, central armed police forces, PSUs, private companies and drone startups will participate in the festival.
PM will interact with farmer drone pilots as well as witness open-air drone demonstration.

The United Nations Security Council has given a resolution to renew the mandate of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) for one year until May 31, 2023.

The National Women Legislators Conference was organized in Thiruvananthapuram on May 28, 2022. The participants demanded immediate steps to pass the long pending Women’s Reservation Bill, which envisages 33% reservation for women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
