Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana Completes One Year

The Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) completed its first year of implementation on 11 October 2026. The Union Cabinet approved the scheme on 16 July 2025, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched it on 11 October 2025. It is a six-year initiative covering financial years 2025–26 to 2030–31.

Scheme design and objectives

PMDDKY covers 100 selected “Aspirational Agricultural Districts” across India. It aims to address district-level gaps in farm productivity, irrigation, agricultural credit and post-harvest infrastructure. The scheme’s interventions are tailored to the agricultural needs identified in each district. The programme brings together 36 Central schemes administered by 11 Ministries and Departments, as well as State schemes and private-sector participation. This convergence framework links existing programmes with district-specific action plans rather than treating the scheme as a standalone intervention.

Implementation framework

All 100 selected districts have prepared District Action Plans. These plans set out interventions relevant to local agricultural needs and form the basis for implementation across the scheme’s six objectives. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare held the first-anniversary event on 12 October 2026 at the National Agricultural Science Complex (NASC) in PUSA, New Delhi. Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan addressed the event.

District-level progress and performance

The average performance score across the scheme’s six objectives rose from 18.85 in April 2026 to 46.89 in August 2026. Gaya in Bihar, Nagaur in Rajasthan and Umaria in Madhya Pradesh were recognised as the overall best-performing districts during the first year. Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir secured first position for improvement in irrigation infrastructure. The scheme’s six-year implementation period runs from FY 2025–26 through FY 2030–31.
