Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi, aged 17 years and three months, won the women’s singles title at the ITF W35 tournament in Lagos, Portugal, on 11 October 2026. She defeated Spain’s Celia Cervino Ruiz 6–4, 6–2 in the final. Revathi also won the doubles title with Ukraine’s Yelyzaveta Kotliar.

ITF World Tennis Tour

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) organises the ITF World Tennis Tour, which includes professional tournaments for men and women. Women’s events are classified into levels including W15, W35, W50, W75 and W100. The “W” denotes a women’s event, while the number identifies its tournament category. Players compete in singles and doubles draws, and results contribute towards professional rankings.

Revathi entered the Lagos event ranked world No. 1038 and won the singles title without dropping a set in the main draw. She began in qualifying. In the main-draw first round, she came back from 0–5 in the opening set to defeat top seed Justina Mikulskyte, then ranked world No. 246, 7–6(1), 6–1.

Professional tennis rankings and career

Revathi’s W35 win made her the youngest Indian woman to win a W35-level professional singles title. At 17 years and three months, she surpassed Sania Mirza’s previous mark of 17 years and 10 months. The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) administers the WTA Tour and publishes the women’s singles rankings; the ITF also organises professional events that award ranking points.

A native of Coimbatore, Revathi reached the semi-final of the W125 Mumbai Open in February 2025, aged 15. The result earned her her first WTA ranking points, and she reached a career-high ranking of world No. 642 in March 2025. She previously trained at the Rafael Nadal Academy in Spain and later moved to the Elite Tennis Centre in Cannes, France.
