INS Trishul Conducts PASSEX with Egyptian Navy

Indian Navy’s guided missile frigate INS Trishul completed a three-day port call at Alexandria, Egypt, on 17 September 2026. Before entering Alexandria harbour, the ship conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Egyptian Naval Ship Bernees, and the vessel was escorted into the harbour by Egyptian Naval Ship Al Qadeer on 14 September 2026.

INS Trishul

INS Trishul is a guided missile frigate of the Indian Navy. Guided missile frigates are warships designed for surface warfare, escort duties, and maritime security operations.

Passage Exercise (PASSEX)

PASSEX is a naval exercise conducted between ships of different navies during passage or port visits. The drills in this case included coordinated manoeuvring, communication exercises, and approaches for replenishment at sea.

India-Egypt Naval Cooperation

The exercise was conducted to improve professional cooperation, interoperability, and maritime coordination between the Indian Navy and the Egyptian Navy. During the port call, India’s Ambassador to Egypt, Suresh K Reddy, visited INS Trishul and interacted with the ship’s crew.
