Haryana approves two Gurugram flyovers and an underpass costing ₹136.41 crore
On 3 November 2026, a committee chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini approved three Gurugram road projects costing a total of ₹136.41 crore. The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will develop two flyovers and an underpass.
Flyovers and underpass details
The Dadi Sati Chowk flyover is budgeted at ₹43.05 crore. It will be about 840 metres long and six lanes wide, between Sectors 85–86 and 89–90. Plans include a 7.5-metre-wide U-turn, service roads and footpaths.
The ₹36.36-crore Ambedkar Chowk flyover will be about 930 metres long and four lanes wide, over the Vikas Marg junction between Sectors 45–46 and 51–52. Its planned features include service and slip roads, two U-turns and covered drains that also serve as footpaths.
A ₹57-crore underpass near Millennium City Centre metro station will have an approach length of about 1,350 metres: 625 metres towards IFFCO Chowk and 725 metres towards Ardee City. The plan also includes a covered foot overbridge of about 300 metres with four lifts and escalators, on-grid solar panels and two rainwater-harvesting systems, each with a capacity of 200,000 litres. Each project is scheduled for completion within 18 months after tender allocation.
Important Facts for Exams
- GMDA remit: GMDA oversees Gurugram’s development and maintenance and is responsible for the city’s urban planning, infrastructure and mobility.
- GMDA statutory governance: Created under the Haryana Metropolitan Development Authority Act, 2017, GMDA’s governing authority is chaired by the Chief Minister, while a Chief Executive Officer conducts its administration.
- Underpass drainage: Because underpass floors lie below surrounding ground, stormwater commonly needs collection sumps and pumped discharge; gravity drainage alone may be impossible.
- Grid-connected solar safety: Grid-connected photovoltaic inverters normally disconnect automatically during grid outages to prevent energising lines, so ordinary on-grid panels do not provide backup power.
