CRPF Raising Day 2026

CRPF Raising Day 2026 was observed on 27 July 2026 to mark the 88th anniversary of the Central Reserve Police Force. The force was established on 27 July 1939 as the Crown Representative’s Police and later became the Central Reserve Police Force under the Central Reserve Police Force Act, 1949.

Central Reserve Police Force

The Central Reserve Police Force is one of India’s largest Central Armed Police Forces and functions under the Ministry of Home Affairs. It is deployed for internal security, law and order support, counter-insurgency, riot control, election duty, and protection of vital installations.

Raising Day and Organisational History

Raising Day is the annual foundation day of a force or institution in India. The CRPF traces its origin to the Crown Representative’s Police created in 1939 during the British period, and its present name was adopted after Independence. The force has served in Jammu and Kashmir, the North East, Left Wing Extremism-affected areas, and other internal security deployments.

2026 Celebrations and Related Events

On 21 February 2026, a CRPF Raising Day Parade for the 87th Raising Day was held at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati, Assam, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah as Chief Guest. A Director General’s Parade was held on 19 February 2026 in Guwahati, and it was the first time that this event took place in the North East region. A mega Blood Donation Camp was organised on 10 March 2026 by Group Centre CRPF Bengaluru and Composite Hospital CRPF Bengaluru with the Indian Red Cross Society.
