Cue Sports and Snooker
Cue sports are played with a cue stick and balls on a table. The Commonwealth Cue Sports Championships 2026 featured five cue sports disciplines. Snooker is played on a pocketed table with 15 red balls and six coloured balls. A red ball scores one point, while the colours carry values from two points for yellow to seven points for black. Players alternate potting a red ball and a colour until the reds are cleared, then pot the colours in ascending value order. English billiards is another cue sport contested at the championships. Its scoring methods include potting balls, completing a cannon by striking the cue ball against both object balls, and scoring an in-off when the cue ball enters a pocket after contact. Anupama Ramachandran won the women’s English billiards title, while Rayaan Razmi won the men’s title.
Commonwealth Cue Sports Championships
The 2026 championships were held in Ahmedabad and brought together 144 players from 42 Commonwealth nations. The competition included five disciplines. The Commonwealth is a voluntary association of independent countries, and membership is not limited to nations that hosted the British Empire.
