PM Modi Unveils Nine-Point Agenda for Viksit Karnataka

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 15, 2026, outlined a nine-point development agenda aimed at achieving “Viksit Karnataka” and contributing to the vision of a “Viksit Bharat.” Addressing a gathering at the Sri Aadichunchanagiri Mutt in Karnataka, he emphasised citizen participation, sustainability, and cultural values as key drivers of inclusive growth.

Focus on water conservation and environment

The Prime Minister highlighted water conservation as a shared responsibility, especially in regions dependent on the Cauvery basin. He urged citizens to adopt efficient water management practices and emphasised the need to protect natural resources. As part of environmental awareness, he encouraged people to plant trees in the name of their mothers, linking ecological responsibility with cultural sentiment.

Promoting self-reliance and local economy

Reinforcing the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, Modi called for greater support to indigenous industries and locally manufactured products. He also encouraged domestic tourism, urging citizens to explore different regions of India to strengthen national unity and boost local economies.

Sustainable agriculture and healthy lifestyle

Addressing farmers, particularly in agrarian regions like Mandya, the Prime Minister advocated a gradual shift towards natural and chemical-free farming. He stressed the importance of soil health and sustainable agricultural practices. On lifestyle issues, he raised concerns over rising obesity and promoted traditional diets such as ragi, along with reduced oil consumption and increased physical activity through yoga and sports.
