Panipat Deputy Commissioner honors Khemraj Sundriyal for promoting traditional khes

Padma Shri recipient Khemraj Sundriyal was honoured by Panipat Deputy Commissioner Dr Harish Kumar Vashishth on 3 November 2026. Vashishth presented him with a certificate of commendation at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Contribution to Handloom and Weavers

Vashishth said Sundriyal had devoted more than six decades to preserving Indian handloom and handicraft traditions and helping weavers become economically self-reliant. He also credited Sundriyal with training weavers and students and linking their skills with employment.

The Deputy Commissioner said Sundriyal helped bring national and international recognition to Panipat’s traditional khes by combining new technology with modern designs. Sundriyal also served at a Government of India handloom development centre after registering for employment in Delhi following his diploma.
