Nagaur-Bikaner Highway Project Approved

The Centre approved a ₹1,359-crore project on 10 June 2026 for the four-laning of the Nagaur-Bikaner stretch of National Highway-62 in Rajasthan. The project will be executed under the Build-Operate-Transfer model, which is a public-private partnership framework used in highway development.

Build-Operate-Transfer Model

The Build-Operate-Transfer model assigns construction, operation, and maintenance responsibilities to a private developer for a fixed concession period. The developer recovers investment through toll collection or other project revenues during the concession period, and the asset is transferred to the government after the term ends. The model transfers traffic risk and revenue risk to the private concessionaire. It differs from the Hybrid Annuity Model, under which the government shares a larger part of the project cost and reduces the financial exposure of the developer.
