Important Facts for Exams
- Rider rotation: In the team sprint, the lead rider withdraws after lap one; the second leads the next lap, then the final rider completes the race alone.
- Track bicycle design: Track bicycles are fixed-gear, without a freewheel or brakes, and use narrow tyres inflated to high pressure.
- Sprint race demands: Track sprint races typically last three to eight laps, emphasising raw sprinting power and tactical decisions over a short distance.
