The United States and Indian Armed Forces began the fifth edition of the bilateral exercise Tiger Triumph 2026 in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, with an opening ceremony on 2 November 2026. The exercise series began in 2019.

HADR and joint operations

The exercise aims to strengthen defence cooperation and operational interoperability, and improve the forces’ ability to respond jointly to regional crises and natural disasters. Its central focus is humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR), supported by staff planning, tabletop exercises and integrated multi-domain command and control.

Activities include all-domain tabletop exercises and specialised command, control, cyber and space synchronisation. The programme also includes subject-matter expert exchanges, community outreach and cultural events.

Statements by naval officers

US Navy Rear Admiral Joaquin Martinez de Pinillos, Vice Commander of the US Pacific Fleet, said the exercise represented the growing strength and shared commitment of the US–India Major Defense Partnership. He said the training supports regional stability and prepares forces to respond to crises and natural disasters.

Indian Navy Rear Admiral Vishal Bishnoi, Flag Officer Commanding the Eastern Fleet, said Tiger Triumph gives practical expression to the countries’ enduring partnership by bringing together their armed forces’ capabilities in HADR settings.
