First vehicle reaches Uttarakhand’s Seepu village after a temporary road connection
Seepu, a border village in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district, received its first vehicle on 24 October 2026, 79 years after Independence. Village head Sarojni Sipal said a temporary road cut connected the village that day. The vehicle carried supplies for solar lights.
Road project and proposed bridges
The 10-kilometre Dhakar–Tidang–Marcha–Seepu motor road is being built under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana as part of the Vibrant Villages Programme. Estimated to cost about ₹24 crore, construction began in July 2024 and is targeted for completion in 2027.
Four bridges are proposed along the route: a 60-metre bridge over Pagal Nala (Chyo Yangti), a 100-metre bridge over the Dhauli River, and two 42-metre-span steel bridges over the Nyola and Lachhar rivers between Seepu and Marcha. The detailed project report has been sent to the state government; bridge work will begin after approval.
