The Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education, organised a nationwide sensitisation programme on inclusive education through the PRASHAST Portal. The 30-minute module is available in 12 Indian languages and targets teachers, special educators, school heads and non-teaching staff. According to the report, more than 72 lakh teachers have been sensitised, and more than 60,000 schools participated. PRASHAST is a digital tool that uses a two-part checklist to identify children with probable disabilities. Special educators validate cases and facilitate medical referrals when required. The initiative aligns with the RPwD Act, 2016, and NEP 2020, promoting accessible and inclusive education.

A rare olive-green snake, identified as the Green Keelback, was spotted near Gangawadi village in Yelandur taluk, Chamarajanagar district, Karnataka. The snake was found on the outskirts of Biligiri Rangana Betta (B.R. Hills), a region known for its rich biodiversity. Green snakes are common in Karnataka, but the olive-green colouration of this particular snake was reported to be rare. According to the report, the Green Keelback is considered non-venomous. When threatened, the snake may raise its hood as a defensive response. The incident highlights the importance of protecting wildlife and natural habitats in the B.R. Hills region.

Recently, Kerala Police launched a dedicated special task force named ‘Speak Up’ to address domestic violence and ensure the safety and empowerment of survivors. An Inspector General (IG)-level officer will be assigned special responsibility to lead the mission. The initiative aims to encourage survivors of domestic violence to report abuse and seek assistance rather than suffer in silence. The campaign’s message is “End endurance, it is time to speak up.” The initiative highlights the importance of protecting survivors, strengthening police intervention and promoting awareness about domestic violence.

Recently, South African judge Navanethem “Navi” Pillay was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts to promote peace and international law. Navi Pillay, aged 85, was recognised for holding states and national leaders accountable and advocating for victims of violence and conflict. Pillay chaired the United Nations Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, which concluded that Israel had committed genocide in Gaza. Israel rejected the report. The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by the Norwegian Nobel Committee. The prize carries an award of 12 million Swedish kronor, approximately US$1.2 million, according to the report.

The collection includes a Kondapalli wooden bullock cart, representing rural life and traditional craftsmanship. Kondapalli wooden bullock cart is a traditional handcrafted toy and decorative showpiece originating from Kondapalli village near Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. The craft has a history of approximately 400 years and is known for its traditional wooden carving techniques. Kondapalli toys have a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, recognising their regional identity.
