Thailand’s Princess Bajrakitiyabha Dies After Prolonged Coma

Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol, the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand, died on 12 June 2026 at the age of 47 after nearly four years in a coma. She had been under treatment at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok since 15 December 2022.

Before her illness, Princess Bajrakitiyabha served as Thailand’s ambassador to Austria and as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. She was also associated with campaigns on women’s rights in prisons.
