Lucknow advances proposal for a 322-hectare theme park
On 3 November 2026, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) advanced a proposal for a theme-based park on 322 hectares of land in the Prabandh Nagar scheme in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. An organisation from Kerala has presented the proposal to the LDA.
Proposal and next steps
The LDA plans to place the proposal before its board soon. Preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) would begin only if the board approves the proposal; the park has not yet received board approval.
Important Facts for Exams
- Themed layout: A theme park organises its structures and attractions around a central theme, sometimes dividing the site into several differently themed areas.
- Design emphasis: Theme parks give greater emphasis than amusement parks to intricately designed themes centred on a particular subject or related subjects.
- LDA oversight: The Lucknow Divisional Commissioner chairs the LDA ex officio, while a government-appointed IAS vice-chairman oversees its daily matters.
