Kisan Credit Card scheme

Introduced in 1998, the Kisan Credit Card scheme seeks to provide farmers the timely access to short-term formal credit. It was created by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for the benefit of farmers in agriculture, fisheries and animal husbandry sector. The Central Government informed the Rajya Sabha recently that more than 187 lakh Kisan Credit Cards with credit limit of Rs.1,76,000 crore were sanctioned to farmers across the country in 2020.
